The quality of effective managers

Great managers prioritise effectiveness when they seek to accomplish tasks in their projects. They scrap what fails and double down on what works. Effective managers are leaders too. They define their desired goals right from the start and hone them to their team's strengths and weaknesses. Instead of trying to do everything at once, a good manager focuses on prioritising using lists which define responsibilities of each team member.

On nurturing culture

Culture is the norms and values that govern why and how things get done. Managers are responsible for influencing the team’s culture by maintaining the organisation’s values. Creating incentives, rewarding, or discouraging certain behaviours will establish the team’s values and work ethic. Finding the overlap between your team’s strengths and the organisation’s values or aspirations will create an environment for the culture to flourish.
