On Being A Minimalist

Lessons from Goodbye, Things.

We came into this world with nothing. Greed, desires, insecurity creeped in, and we started to want more. So we began accumulating and became a hoarder of material things.

But we must realise possessions can only give us temporary “happiness”. Over time, these material objects take up too much of our time, money, energy, and our freedom. The things that we used to long for won’t matter after a short while. In turn, they occupy all the space in our life and our mind.

This is why we love travelling. When we go to a new place, we pack just what we need and we are not tied to our stuff. When we let go of our desire of wanting stuff, we are liberated to fulfill a higher purpose than just a hoarder of stuff.
