Desire should drive you, not enslave you. The average consumers is always unhappy because they are never fulfilled, their craving for more stuff is unending.
Buying more things won’t make you happy or increase your self-worth — it just makes you a hoarder. When you use materials goods to measure your success and happiness, you’ll compare yourself to others that have more stuff, so you’re always unhappy because there are always people with more stuff than you.
You can find happiness in wanting and having less. Reduce your material possessions to the absolute minimum you need, everything else is fluff.
Perfection is where there is nothing left to be removed. Living with the bare essentials rids you body and mind of the burden of wanting and owning stuff.
